Spelling

Hi everyone,

This week's spelling words are up on Spellingcity.com! I encourage you to go there to study your words in a fun way.

Remember, we run the 800 tomorrow, so wear appropriate shoes!

Weekly Reading and Math Logs went home today. They are due on Monday. Any not turned in by 8:30 AM on Wednesday will no longer be accepted.

Only 6 weeks until you're 6th graders! Let's put it in gear!

See you tomorrow!

NWEA Testing

Hi everyone,

Don't forget, we are doing our NWEA testing this week on Tuesday morning and afternoon and Wednesday morning. Please make sure you are getting a good night's sleep and eating breakfast each day!

As a result of testing, we will not have Weekly Reading and Math logs or homework.

Also, we will be working on our Poetry Cafe binders this week. Please bring in any materials you'd like to use to decorate.

See you tomorrow!

Biome Project

Some people have shown their parents the letter about biome projects, so here it is!

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Dear Parents,

Biome projects begin this week! We have learned a little bit about multiple biomes, and we spent all of last week researching about one biome in particular. We will then take that research and compile it into a report. Students will research and write their reports in school; no part of the report needs to be done at home! However, as with the planet reports, there is a homework element. Students will design and create their biome at home. They need to have the following items regarding their tribes represented in their project:

1. Four producers found in the biome
2. Four animals found in the biome
3. Representation of climate
4. Students will also be graded on neatness

Add details! Someone should be able to look at the scenery, plants, animals, and colors in your biome project and know which biome you studied! You may not use plastic on you projects (ex: buying pre-made plastic figurines/objects). You can create your biome in a shoebox or on a flat surface.

Biomes are due Monday, March 21, 2011 for Ms. Felton’s class and Tuesday, March 22, 2011 for Mrs. Anseth’s class. If you finish your project before that, you may bring it in early.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Sincerely,

Kiley Felton

Happy break!

Hi everyone,

I hope you enjoy your days off! Make sure you are continuing to read for the Sock Hop. We still have students who have not turned in any recording logs. Remember, your goal is read 450 pages! You have a little less than two weeks left. Keep working hard!

See you on Tuesday!

Don't freak out!

Hi everyone,

Today students received their first progress report for 3rd Quarter. Many of you have Fs in Math: Tests and Quizzes. This is because the only grade in that section is a Friday Quiz worth 8 points. If you missed half, you earned 4/8. This is a 50%. However, it would take more than 10 quizzes like this equal even one homework assignment. Your grade is barely affected by this one grade. I realize that seeing an F might freak you out, but it should look very different once today's Ch. 4 Test (worth 100 points) goes in.

Main Idea: Don't freak out about your Test/Quiz grade in math.

See you tomorrow!
